Intro:
what we have to do is deal with it when these individuals are young enough
if you want to be saved not in a religious sense
but we have to constitue what this country at times calls its only children
we seem to be approaching(come on) an age of the gross (burp)
we all have this idea that we should move up a little bit from our parents station and each generation should a little better
Verse 1:
Alright come on lets cut this bullshit, enough
Let's get it started let's start addressin this issue and open it up
Let's take this shit back to the basement and we can discuss statements Thats made on this tape and its whole origin of
The music that we all know and love the music we all enjoy
The music that you accuse me of tryin' destroy
Let's rewind it to '89 when i was boy
On the East Side of Detroit crossin' 8 mile into Warren
Into hick territory. Id like to share a story
This is my story and cant nobody tell it for me
You have well informed me I am well aware that I dont belong here
You made that perfectly clear
I get my ass kicked damn near everywhere
From Bel-Air Shoppin' Centre just for stoppin in there
From the black side all the way to the white side
Okay theres a bright side, a day that i might slide
You may call it a pass i call it haulin' my ass
Through that patch of grass
Over them railroad tracks
Oh them railroad tracks
Them old railroad tracks
Them good old notorious so well known tracks.
Chorus:
So let's go back follow the yellow brick road
As we go on another episode
Journey with me as i take you through this nifty little place
That i once used to call home sweet home
Come on lets go back follow the yellow brick road
As we go on another episode
Journey with me as i take you through this nifty little place
That i once used to call home sweet home
Bridge:
I'd roam the streets so much they call me a drifter
Sometimes i stick up a thumb just to hitchhike
Just to get picked up to get me a lift ta
8 Mile and Van Dyke or steal a goddamn bike
From somebody's backyard and drop it off at the park
That was the halfway mark
To meet Kim had to walk
Back to her mamma's on Chalmers after dark
To sneak me in the house when im kicked out my mom's
That's about the time, I first met Proof with Goofy Gary on the steps at Osbourne handing out some flyers
We was doin' some talent shows at Centerline High
I told him to stop by and check us out sometime
He looked at me like im out my mind
Shook his head like white boys dont know how to rhyme
I spit out a line and rhymed birthday with first place
And we both had the same rhymes that sound alike
We was on that same shit that Big Daddy Kane shit where compound syllables sound combined
From that day we was down to ride
Somehow we knew we'd meet again somewhere down the line
Chorus:
So lets go back follow the yellow brick road
As we go on another episode
Journey with me as i take you through this nifty little place
That i once used to call home sweet home
Come on lets go back follow the yellow brick road
As we go on another episode
Journey with me as i take you through this nifty little place
That i once used to call home sweet home
Verse 2:
My first year in 9th grade, cant forget that day in school
it was cool to your man MC Shan came through
And said that Puma's the brand cause the Klan makes troops
It was rumours but man goddamn they flew
musta been true becuae man we done banned they shoes
I had the new ones the Cool J, Ice lambs suede too
but we just threw em' in the trash like they yesterday's news
Guess who came through next? X-Clan debuted
Professor X "Vanglorious, exist in a state of red, black and green with a key, sissies"
now with this being the new trend we don't fit in
crackas is out with Cactus albums blackness is in
African symbols and medallions represents black power and we ain't know what it meant
Me and my man Howard and Butter would go to the mall
With 'em all over our necks like we're showin 'em off
not knowin at all we was bein laughed at
You ain't even half black you ain't supposed to have that homie let me grab that
And that Flava Flav clock we gonna have to snatch that
All I remember is meetin back at
Manix's basement sayin how we hate this
How racist but dope the X-Clan's tape is
Which reminds me back in '89 me
And Kim broke up for the first time She was tryin' to two-time me
And there was this black girl at our school who thought I was cool
cuz I rapped, so she was kinda eyein' me
And oh the irony, guess what her name was?
Ain't even gonna say it plus
The same color hair as hers was and blue contacts
And a pair of jugs the bombest goddamn
Girl in our whole school
If I could pull her not only would I become more popular
But I would be able to piss Kim off at the
Same time but it backfired, I was supposed to dump her but she dumped me for this black guy
And that's the last I ever seen or heard or spoke
to the Ole' foolish pride girl but I've heard
people say they heard the tape and it ain't that bad
But it was, I singled out a whole race
And for that apologize, I was wrong
cause no matter what color a girl is she still a...
Chorus:
So lets go back follow the yellow brick road
As we go on another episode
Journey with me as i take you through this nifty little place
That i once used to call home sweet home
Come on lets go back
Follow the yellow brick road
As we go on another episode
Journey with me as i take you through this nifty little place
That i once used to call home sweet home.

who cares about the title man...everyone rips titles...this might be the best lyrical track on the album...and to mar88vdv...he aint sayin anythin original huh...you ever hear the story from him about the tape in his basement...and why he used the "N" word on that tape...and how he's mannin up to say he was wrong and apologize...dont talk about shit you dont know man...this is one of the realist songs he may have ever put down...crazy beat...crazy lyrics...and an insight to what really happend...instead of the source's view...hot song | 10-11-2004 09:12 arminn | 20 posts

This song is why Eminem is different from most rappers. He actually raps about shit other than doing sluts and bangin chicks. He talks about his life, and he needs to stick with songs like this, not bullshit songs like Just Lose It. This is Eminem at some of his best, great beat, great lyrics. | 13-11-2004 13:24 LeLox | 1,136 posts

[b]this song...has some meaning and explains everything about that *certain time*. for all u dumbasses that say this song isnt original....it is. this will probably be his last album. hes gonna be helping Dr. Dre with his detox album..which is in the makin and is scheduled to come out this year. But yea this song is good for you dumbshits that dont know anything about eminem . and by the way....just lose it is a good song...he might have to keep doing songs like this...but hes also known for his humorous songs too if he didnt have any..then the album wudnt be as good cuz u know we need a little comedy relief too | 14-11-2004 13:59 jona123 | 2 posts

| lol, no not lil kim, but in terms of his music this entire song is new, he's never told us any of this stuff in song. the flava flave clock made me laugh, and it was fun to listen to him apologize for the "foolish pride girl" song from 1988. anyone heard it? its a weak song. but he apologized for it. benzinos a fuck | 21-11-2004 04:20 Eminem_babenLuv | 16 posts

| hey pplz remember how someone said that em's gonna retire? well, its true just go to this website
http://www.vote-america.org/Eminemvs50Cent5.html
this is wat it said:
A November report by Ireland Online states that Eminem claims he wants to give up his international fame in return for the quiet life. The music icon says he is tired of the limelight and wishes he could reverse the effects of stardom. He said: "I would take it back to where I made a comfortable living. I would just make music, have people appreciate it, even if it's a few people that like it, and be able to walk to a mall, walk to a store." | 29-11-2004 16:15 xx jess xx | 3 posts

I think this song is deadly. it is gret that he doesnt just talk abou tfucking chicks and he mentions a lot of shit about his life too. I think Eminem is one of the best rappers out there and hopefully i know one day i would love to meet him because his lyrics mean a lot to me and probably hundreds of people out there. I think Eminem is a great rapper and a great writer and his work should be respected and not dissed. |
