    Lyrics

    What will you do when you get lonely
    When nobody's waitin' by your side?
    You've been running and hiding much too long;
    You know, it's just your foolish pride.

    Layla, you got me on my knees. Layla,
    I'm begging darling please. Layla,
    Darling, won't you ease my worried mind?

    I tried to give you consolation;
    When your old man had let you down.
    Like a fool, I fell in love with you;
    You turned my whole world upside down.

    Layla, you got me on my knees. Layla,
    I'm begging darling please. Layla,
    Darling, won't you ease my worried mind?

    Let's make the best of the situation
    Before I finally go insane.
    Please don't say we'll never find a way
    And tell me all my love's in vain.

    Layla, you got me on my knees. Layla,
    I'm begging darling please. Layla,
    Darling, won't you ease my worried mind?

    Layla, you got me on my knees. Layla,
    I'm begging darling please. Layla,
    Darling, won't you ease my worried mind?

      This song is the epitome of a rock song. It's full of blues, guitar riffs, heart-felt lyrics and for those who know the story behind the song, it's easy to tell this song came from great anguish for Eric. He was in love with George Harrison's wife, Pattie Boyd.

      The piano solo written by Jim Gordon just completes the song. The slide guitar by Duane Allman against Eric's bent notes is just superb. Because this song incorporates all the parts of rock and roll in one song, it's the song I have people listen to when trying to explain the phenomenon of rock and roll.

      If an alien came down from space and wanted to understand rock, this song would be the one I'd play for them. The acoustic version is nice, but the original conveys the pain, anguish and turmoil Eric was feeling when he wrote this CLASSIC ROCK MASTERPIECE.

      I love this song, i heard the acoustic version first, but i love them both equally. I recently saw a tv special about Pattie Boyd, and when i found out that Something (by george harrison) AND this song were about her, i was totally jealous. how awesome would it be to have two great songs written about u?

      Quite a good song.. but feels like it's way old. From the music and the vocalist I don't really know how old it is but oh well
