After her worldwide hit "American Boy", Estelle is back with a new single, "No Substitute Love", covering the verses of George Michael's hit "Faith" & even the video's beginning. Discover the video with a featuring by... Kelly Rowland.
The 28-year-old English singer, born to a Senegalese mother & a father from Grenade, Estelle Swaray, released her second album on May 5, on John Legend's label HomeSchool. Shine has been produced by John Legend, Will.I.Am, Mark Ronson, Wyclef Jean, Kanye West, Cee-Lo... An album including her worldwide hit "American Boy" & follow-up of The 18th Day, released in 2004. Shine is a mix of hip-hop, pop, reggae & soul.
"No Substitute Love" is the new single from this album, the third, after "Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)", released in the UK & the United States only. This new single covers the verses from George Michael's 80's song "Faith", using the same beginning as former Wham! singer for her video... Whereas "Faith" video used the same chorus as George Michael's previous hit "I Want Your Sex", "No Substitute Love" video uses the same chorus as "American Boy"... With the Jukebox !
Unfortunately, in the UK, the song hasn't been well classed in charts, lower than "American Boy", even if Kelly Rowland appears in the video's end.
Also, the singer should have told "Guardian" magazine : "White singers like Amy Winehouse & Duffy shouldn't sing soul music because they're not Black & they can't really do it..." No comment !
