vocal I didn't understand this song at all until I saw the video on launch. I agree that it has a very deep message, although not only that everyone will like you if you are yourself, but that by hiding what you really are from everyone you make yourself the fool. Everyone assumes they know what you are, (like the girls in the video) and after so many lies, you no longer have the authority to contradict them because you've given them the power to dictate who and what you are.

vocal I heard Amy Lee said this song was actually written about Britney Spears. Her sister was a fan when she began her career. In an interview Amy says that she has nothing against that type of music but what bothered her was the fact that Britney Spears was less and less dressed each time she appeared. To Amy, Britney never was a good model for little girls because she did exactly what adults expected from her. When Amy saw all those little girls dressed like Britney Spears she decided to write that song. She wanted her sister to realize later that her idol of whom she believed every word was fake.
