Out on your own
Cold and alone again
Can this be what you really wanted, baby?
(Lacrimosa)
Blame it on me
(dies illa)
Set your guilt free
(Lacrimosa)
Nothing can hold you back now
(Dona eis requiem)
Now that you're gone
I feel like myself again
Grieving the things I can't repair and willing ...
(Lacrimosa)
To let you blame it on me
(dies illa)
And set your guilt free
(Lacrimosa)
I don't want to hold you back now love
(Dona eis requiem)
I can't change who I am
Not this time, I wont lie to keep you near me
And in this short life
There's no time to waste on giving up
My love wasn't enough
(Lacrimosa)
And you can blame it on me
(dies illa)
Just set your guilt free, honey
(Lacrimosa)
I don't want to hold you back now love
(Dona eis requiem)
(Amen)
This sounds a fantastic, epic song. Really looking forward to hearing this.
"One other song that actually did not make the album, but was also written with children in mind, was the unreleased tune that Lee was asked to contribute to the soundtrack for the blockbuster film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. The untitled song was ultimately rejected, although she also wrote “Lacrymosa” for the film.
“I thought it would be awesome for the opening scene, but they wanted something original,” says Lee of the Mozart cover. “I wrote something else that was moody, dark and really cool, and the director wanted something that felt more hopeful. The song was about saying goodbye and moving on, and that’s what they’re doing in [the beginning of] the movie when they’re leaving their parents and going into some scary, unknown place. That’s how I wrote it, from their perspective. I thought the song was perfect. And it wasn’t like I put a bunch of guitars in it. I made stuff that was cool and vibey but was still haunting, and I think that’s the part they didn’t like.”

vocal Clearly one of the best songs from the new album. Someone of you might have wondered why the name, and what is the chorus singing. My friends i have the answer for that. Lacrymosa is a part of mozarts requim, and that is where the violin and chorus are from. The lacrymosa part of the requim can be heard here:
Lacrimosa dies illa,
qua resurget ex favilla
judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus,
pie Jesu Domine,
dona eis requiem. Amen.
( I only think evanescence use the first line of it though)
And the translation goes like this:
That day of tears and mourning,
when from the ashes shall arise,
all humanity to be judged.
Spare us by your mercy, Lord,
gentle Lord Jesus,
grant them eternal rest. Amen.
Very beautiful. All of the latin requim with translation can be found here:
This is beautiful. Being a big fan Mozart's Requiem, at first I was kind of torn between "this is awesome!" and "this is sacrilege!" But it's grown on me.

vocal Wow thanks for all the info about the Mozart connections!
This song has become one of my favourites from the album, not because it wasn't brilliant before, but can someone please correct me or is the Latin section in this song the same as the one from the demo 'Anthing for you'???
When I first heard the song, I couldn't get the demo out of my head, however now I have mananged to appreciate the song for its full excellence.
But can someone please confirm this, coz I am going slowly mad!

vocal I actually thought too that anything for you's chorus was the same of lacrymosa's. But i listened both and they sound quite different. i dont know if the chorus in anything for you is froms mozart's requiem though

vocal What I love about this song is that it not only shows how beautifully Amy Lee can blend modern sounds with her classical training, but it also shows the group's intelligence and sense of humor. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but they placed "Lacrymosa" as track seven of the album... This also happens to be the traditional placement of the Lacrymosa movement in the Requiem Mass.
Aside from that, it's definitely my favorite song on the album (a difficult statement to make since I love ALL of them!) and it gives me goosebumps every time! I'm so happy to own this CD!

vocal Ahhhh, so that's why the music sounded so familiar. Generally I'm not a big fan of the classics (I'm too fond of singing along). *guiltyfaced*
I'm quite fond of the lyrics though. The singer willing to take the guilt of everything that went wrong...I've often had such thoughts myself, and I suffer from depression and low self-esteem. It's the sort of idea that the person is deficient some how, so of course things wouldn't turn out because of that flaw. And the selfless confession of being flawed so that the person isn't stuck trying to fix that which cannot be mended.
A very pretty song with the beautifully eerie sound that Evanescence seems to truly excell at.

vocal I love this song and what Evanescence has done with the Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem. However, I don't really understand the reasoning behind the key change to E minor from the original D minor aside from perhaps vocal range. Not that this is a problem, it's just when I play one right after the other it's like, "AHHH DIFFERENT KEY!" lol.
I also think that the choir could have been much stronger musically than it is, so that was disappointing. It was too soprano-heavy, and while it was good, it could have been so much better...
All that to say, despite its musical shortcomings (which I am compelled to comment upon as a music major) I love this song!
