(You know you're not the only one)
When they all come crashing down - midflight
You know you're not the only one
When they're so alone
they find a back door out of life
You know you're not the only one
We're all grieving
Lost and bleeding
All our lives
We've been waiting
For someone to call our leader
All your lies
I'm not believing
Heaven shine a light down on me
So afraid to open your eyes - hypnotized
You know you're not the only one
Never understood this life
And you're right I don't deserve
But you know I'm not the only one
We're all grieving
Lost and bleeding
All our lives
We've been waiting
For someone to call our leader
All your lies
I'm not believing
Heaven shine a light down on me
Don't look down
Don't look into the eyes
of the world beneath you
Don't look down,
You'll fall down,
You'll become their sacrifice
Right or wrong
Can't hold onto the fear
that I'm lost without you
If I can't feel,I'm not mine,
I'm not real
All our lives
We've been waiting
For someone to call our leader
All your lies
I'm not believing
Heaven shine a light down on me

vocal Ok. This song in my opinion is the absolute best song on the album!
the lyrics are just absolutely fucking powerful! My favorite lines in the song:
"Don't look down, don't look into the eyes of the world beneath you. Don't look down, you'll fall down, you'll become they're sacrifice. Right or wrong, can't hold on to the fear that i'm lost without you. If I can't feel, I'm not mine, I'm not real."
That those lines cut me as deep as a knife can stab someone.
the song in my interpretation, is a cry of sorrow from society itself. Society is crying to be saved by a leader (hint hint: Jesus).
"All our lives, we've been waiting for someoen to call our leader"
I'm not religious in anyways, shape or form but I do believe in a powerful force that created life and that line tells me that society is waiting for the second coming of jesus.
again, this is just my interpretation. The song is society crying out to jesus or god to help it.

vocal I think SWP ^ is on to something with that, but I think it could be something more generalized than Jesus in general.
To me, the song seems to be saying that so many people are hurt and suffer and they're often confused as to why it would happen to them, or anyone, and they feel isolated in their pain. So the leader, I think, would be someone who could lead them away from such feelings, or at least group all those who suffer and take them under his/her wing. Or perhaps let them know they aren't alone or suffered in vain. There's the strong sense of lonliness in this song, and the desire to not feel alone. Also there is that sense of having to hide the pain because others might not understand it, deride it, or take advantage of it. After all
"don't look into the eyes of the world beneath you
don't look down, you'll fall down,
you'll become their sacrifice
right or wrong"
This song is definitely one of my favorites on the CD.
It's got really powerful lyrics, and I love the guitar line.
But... does anyone know what the quacking at the beginning is about??
Awesome song my first thought when i heard the song was like the thoughts Mynoris posted but when i listened to the song a bit more, the line
All our lives We've been waiting
made me change my mind. All our lives sounds more like the society then just a couple of people.
either way its one of the best songs ever done by Evanescence
