Yes, it's true! Forty foot echo is not dead. In fact, they are releasing a new CD on Aug 28, 2006, entitled Below The Surface. There are four tracks from the new CD to listen to on their myspace site:

They are currently in the studio, shooting the video for the first song to be released from the new CD, called "Closer".

There were alot of rumors floating around about their demise. And when people said they were coming back, they were dismissed as rumors. But the rumors are finally true!!!!! Forty foot echo is baaaccckkkkk!!!!!!
