France Gall (real name Isabelle Gall) was born on October 7, 1947 in Paris, France. Her father Robert Gall was a composer for Charles Aznavour. When France was very young, she learnt piano & guitar. In 1962, she recorded her first 7", then she left school & was revealed by the song "Sacré Charlemagne". In 1965, she represented Luxembourg for the Eurovision Song Contest & won with "Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son", written by Serge Gainsbourg. In 1996, the song "Les Sucettes", written by Serge, caused critics & the young girl left the media.
France came back in 1975, with her album composed by Michel Berger. They married in 1976 & had 2 children, Pauline in 1978 & Raphaël in 1981. Hits came : "La Déclaration D'Amour", "Musique", "Il Jouait Du Piano Debout"... In the mid-80's, Michel & France went to Africa to help poor children. In 1992, they recorded an album in duet, Double Jeu : this was Michel's last album, he died of a heart attack on August 2, 1992. After her husband's death, France only recorded one album, France in 1996 & rarely appeared on TV. In 1994, she got the distinction "Chevalier De La Légion D'Honneur". In 1997, a second tragedy struck the singer : her daughter Pauline died of cystic fibrosis & France decided to stop her musical career. In November 2007, she appeared in a TV show, paying tribute to Michel Berger.
