Well, I know that a lot of people LOVE this song and think its great and what-not, but ,unfortunately for you, I hate it immensely. It's my opinion and let me explain. I just don't like their sound and chord structures (they're just bland and pointless), and it's too freakin' repetitive, ESPECIALLY the last half of it. The lyrics are just too boring and stupid. The music video though, is AWFUL! . I wanted to cry when I saw it for the first time it sucks so badly. It's a wanna-be of modest mouse's music and Incubus's awesome Megalomaniac video. It's like "wtf?" the entire way through, with its nerdy geometric shapes and other very random pieces of crap. I really just can't stand the singer either. He sounds like he got the same drugs or whatever from the Modest Mouse guys, just probably not as much. The melody sounds dinky like a gay "we're-gonna-show-you-guys-up" song. It just doesn't go anywhere. I know, I know, its just a "fun" song, but it just pisses me off because Franz Ferdinand just sounds like they wanna sound cool, when they actually sound like a jumbled-up beer band. This is my opinion on them, and you can agree with me or not. I still respect your ideas.
Well, I'm glad one person could actually type a reason for their opnion, even though I totally don't agree with it. At least it wasn't something like: LYKE OMG DIS SOOONG BYETS BIIG TYME!!!
*mutters* I hate idiots. Anyway, the chord progression is AWESOME. It sounds easy but it took me weeks to mimic on my own guitar. The lyrics are smart and creative, and yes, a lot like Modest Mouse's stuff. But obscure indie is becomming a trend, and the world just discoveed both bands around the same time. It's not their fault.
The video goes with the mood of the music. It was an interesting way to subconcously make you understand the mood, speed, and rythem of the song. It does make me wonder, however, how they pitched the idea for this video. Well, I wonder that about most movies I watch as well, I guess.
I think thus far their best songs are The Dark of the Matinee (although it bothers me a little that the beginning is exactly like that of a very old Thrid Eye Blind song) and Michael.
For some reason some of their songs make me think of a mix between the later Beatles stuff, and the Vines.

vocal The "Take me out" Music video is nothing like modest mouse's. Just because its ridiculous stuff, it doesn't mean it's a copy. Franz Ferdinand does not try to be cool, its Europian music, so they have a different style. The last thing those people want to do is to try to mimic us, they don't find most Americans "pleasing". I'm not trying to insult any nationality, but trying to prove the idea that FF copies MM. And today, you can barely listen to the radio for 2 hours without hearing a good "repetitive song".You don't have to agree with what I say, it's your choise to be wrong or right.
