The band members are Matt Davies (Vocals), Kris Roberts (Guitars), Darren Smith (Guitars), Gareth Davies (Bass) and Ryan Richards (Drums).
Funeral for a Friend was founded in spring 2002 and a phenomenal rise followed.
Tours with favourites of the underground such as “Boy Sets Fire” and “The Juliana Theory” brought them the neccessary respect and shows with “Finch” and “Lost Prophets” lead to even more attention.
Their first headlining tour in England has been entirely sold out and even the masses at Britain’s greatest festivals were enthused by the Welsh.
But they aren’t just brilliant at their live perfomances.
Their first EP “Between Order and Model” , which was recorded and released a few months after the band’s foundation, was aswell an ambitioned as a self-confident debut.
Six months later the quintett played showcases for every label in the country and got attention from every major label, that urgently wanted to sign the “next big thing”.
The early trust by Warner Label’s “Infectious Records” in the band paid off.
The “Four Ways to Scream Your Name”-EP was released in April 2003 and the story continued successfully
During a few weeks after the release the name Funeral for a Friend got unresignable for every respective music magazine.
The director and punk video legend Darren Doane (Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World, Pennywise) was so impressed, that he was willing to do the clip for This Year’s Most Open Heartbreak”.
With “Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation” Funeral for a Friend’s first major full length record was released in autumn 2003.
