Song lyrics
You know a dream is a like a river
Ever changing as it flows
And the dreamer's just a vessel
That must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what's behind you
And never knowing what's in store
Makes each day a constant battle
Just to stay between the shores... and

Chorus:
I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
So I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry

Too many times we stand aside
Let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow
It has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide... yes

Repeat Chorus

There's bound to be rough waters
And I know I'll take some falls
But with the good Lord as my captain
I can make it through them all...yes

Repeat Chorus

Yes I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
'Til the river runs dry

This is the sort of song you come back to again & again, especially if you've hit a rough patch. For instance, I recently went into raising & breeding rabbits for show, &, unfortuately, I lost 3 of 5 babies from my first litter, over the course of 3 days. The first to go was my favorite, a little opal doe who had been incredibly friendly and affectionate, and whom I adored. People who have never had a tiny furry thing use their lap as a fort and try to eat their hair, then cuddle with them and give them little bunny-kisses might not understand the bond that developes, but it's a very special attachment. After she died, I couldn't stop crying. Then I heard this song on the radio, & I felt a little better. This song also helped me through the loss of our horse, who I'd known since I was a toddler & he was a foal, & who was like a big, furry brother to me. I guess it makes me remember that, even if you've lost something, at least you had it to lose, because you risked losing it...

Thank you so very, very much, Mr. Brooks.

Best song of all time... its actually the one that turned me on to country music... and now I'm in school for broadcasting and hoping to work at a country music radio station or at CMT someday... but this song means so much to me... it got me through alot of hard times and it always seems to play on the radio at the best times...
Thank you Garth... you're missed in the country world... you really are...

One of the best songs I've ever heard. It keeps me motivated to keep going...take life one step at a time and enjoy it every step of the way! This song has truly inspired me to do the best I can to succeed at life, to take things to my advantage, and enjoy my time while it lasts.

Miss yeah Garth. Wish you'd come back!
