| Song lyrics |
Just the other night
At a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into
My old highschool flame
And as I introduced them
The past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of
The way things used to be
She was the one
That I´d wanted for all times
And each night I´d spend prayin´
That God would make her mine
And if He'd only granted me
This wish I'd wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again
Sometimes I thank God
For unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin'
To the man upstairs
That just because He doesn't answer
Doesn't mean He don't care!
Some of God's greatest gifts are
unanswered prayers...!
She wasn't quite the angel
That I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me,
In her eyes too, it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows
What He's doing after all
And as she walked away
Well I looked at my wife
And then and there I thanked the good Lord
For the gifts in my life
Sometimes I thank God
For unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin'
To the man upstairs
And just because He may not answer
Doesn't mean He don't care!
Some of Gods greatest gifts
are unanswered....
Some of Gods greatest gifts
are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are
Unanswered Prayers!

This song RULES!!!! It shows to trust God, no matter what happens.
[offtopic]Oh, and girl above me, please stop starting every forum with " I can't believe no one has discussed this song yet", it gets really old. | 13-11-2004 09:10 SupernovaGemini | 32 posts
| ...Who says I'm a girl??
Of course, you *could've* looked at my profile, but since you didn't look at what my name was or didn't see that I'm clearly new and didn't know that "it gets old", I doubt it
Anyway, yeah, good song, I think I already explained in my first post. | 13-11-2004 09:24 SupernovaGemini | 32 posts
| ...Sorry for the double post. However, I realized that my above post sounded rude, when indeed I was actually joking around Things really get lost in translation on the Internet. Sorry, I'll keep that in mind...

| I really like this song. On the Double Live album, Garth stops singing at the chorus each time and lets the audience sing. In an interview, he said that that experience of hearing the audience sing his song back to him almost perfectly on pitch was one of the greatest experiences he'd had. Hearing the recording, I can understand why. I suggest that anyone who hasn't heard the Double Live CD try to get ahold of it.. it's great. | 30-04-2005 15:12 smyser | 10 posts

This was my favorite song growing up. This song is so true, in my opinion it's the best Garth song out there, and that's really hard for me to make that decision because I love almost all of his music. | 17-03-2006 21:58 amy2266 | 537 posts
