George Nozuka - Biography

George koichi Nozuka was born in Queens, New York on April 28, 1986. He lived in Long Island until he was 9. George's parents divorced when he was 8 years old and he was left in the care of his mother, along with his 6 siblings. Soon after, his mother and his siblings moved to Canada where they lived in Richmond Hill and Aurora. They finally settled in Toronto, Ontario.

He began to develop a passion for music when he was 12. George has four brothers and two sisters. Two of his brothers are Philip (an actor), and Justin, another singer whose genres of music fall under soul, acoustic, and alternative. George's first performance was at a school talent show. In Grade 6, He and his younger brother made a dance for a Backstreet Boys song "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." George says when he was younger he remebers watching Michael Jackson's "Thriller", and this inspired him.

George graduated from highschool and attended St. Andrew's College until 2002 when he moved to the Etobicoke School of the Arts for musical theatre. He graduated in 2005. He is a nephew of actor Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick by marriage. His mother is Kyra Sedgwick's sister.

He started to take on singing full time, but started small by joining 2 musical groups in his teens. Soon after he met Chris Jacob Huyer who then introuduced him to Howie from the backstreet boys. Howie was amazed by george's talent and decided to make him the debut project for the record label HC Entertainment Group. George sings, plays keyboards, guitar and harmonica, and co-wrote all of the songs on his album. He spent 12 months recording in Toronto, Los Angeles and Sweden with a number of producers: Perry Alexander, Roy "Royalty" Hamilton and Anthony M.
The record label is owned by a record label owned by former boy band members CJ Huyer of 3 Deep and Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys.

Growing up George played hockey but he gave that up to become a singer. However he says that he joined the sport, and it has benefits "Hockey's not an easy sport, but I had that athlete in me to push myself. Now, I'm glad I have that mentality because it pushes me to take my music to the next level." -George
He also says he grew up in an abusive household, and blamed himself for a lot of the things that happened. He had to do a lot of self-reflection but he didnt give up on his dream and is here with us now.

George Nozuka is a Canadian R&B singer from a mixed descent of Japanese, and Caucasian. The first single from his debut album was "Talk to Me", which peaked at #1 on the week of October 27, on the MuchMusic MusicVideo Countdown. His second single of "Believe" was "Lie to Me"
His Third single "Last Time" of "Believe" was recently released.
