Oh my god, dude. Green Day just took all the half-assed punk bands (like the Distillers and such) to SCHOOL! They could learn a lesson from GD. Kudos and props to this great band for setting the bar and showing 'em how its done!

wow that would be pretty mad and i've listened to this CD (and read along with the booklet twice) and i've realized that it does have a story to it!!!

well im thinking that St.jimmy might be Jimmy Hendricks....or however u spell it.. cause i think they kinda escribe him there... and he died of an overdose... sooo anyone else agree or what?!?!? |

| the story behind american idiot (to the best of my knowledge) is an average everyday normal kid, "Jesus of Suburbia", leaves home because he realises that everyone around him is false and uncaring. when he reaches the city where he runs away to, he rejects his old existence as Jesus of Suburbia and becomes "St Jimmy" instead, a punk-rocker drug dealer type. he falls in love with an anarchist girl called whatsername, but when even his life as jimmy becomes boring and monotonous, she leaves him. eventually st jimmy "dies", and jesus returns home, older but not much wiser. |

Amazing song.. MY NAME Is SAINT JIMMY AND IM A SON OF A GUN hehe Green DAy is my favorite band... there a real rock band.. i cant wait until all of there of there other songs get well know besides "american idiot"

well i bought this cd yesterday and i have to say theres a few songs on here i dont like, but i really like this 1 (the SP cd is a lot betta), i dont kno heaps about green day coz i am a huge simple plan fan so yeah... i only like about 4 songs on here |

This is definately one of my favorite songs on the album ^_^
I wonder if St. Jimmy and Jesus of Suburbia are supposed to be real people, or if they're just characters that Green Day made up. I kinda doubt the Jimmy Hendrix theory as this is a political album about stuff happening right now, not someone who died years ago. |
