Hawksley Workman, born on March 4 1975, is the stage name of Ryan Corrigan, a Canadian rock singer-songwriter from Bay Lake, Ontario.
2001's (Last Night We Were) The Delicious Wolves, became Workman's breakthrough album with the hit singles "Striptease" and "Jealous of Your Cigarette". In 2002, Workman was awarded the Juno Award for Best New Solo Artist and also received the award for Best Video for "Jealous of Your Cigarette".
Lover/Fighter followed in 2003; the album included the hits "We Will Still Need a Song", "Anger as Beauty", "Even an Ugly Man" and "No Reason to Cry Out Your Eyes (On the Highway Tonight)".
A new album, Treeful of Starling, was released on February 28, 2006.
Hawksley started out as a drummer but is now a multi-instrumentalist who plays and sings virtually every part on his records.
He has also toured Europe with such luminaries as David Bowie, Patti Smith, New Order, The Cure, Marianne Faithfull and Noir Désir. During the last World Cup, his rendition of The Beatles' "Revolution" provided the soundtrack for a television commercial, featuring French soccer star, Zinedine Zidane.
Hawksley also owns a century-old, one-room schoolhouse his grandmother attended as a child, which he now uses as a home and recording studio.
