AboutHilary Duff (born Hilary Erhard Duff in Houston, Texas, US on September 28, 1987) is an American actress, singer-songwriter, author and businesswoman.
She loved performing ever since she was a little girl and got her big break as Wendy in the real life movie "Casper Meets Wendy", and went on to star as Elizabeth "Lizzie" Brooke McGuire in Disney Channel's hit TV show Lizzie McGuire where she got her start in singing that was featured on Lizzie Mcguire (Songs From The Hit Tv Series) [2002]. After the success and fame on Disney was taking off, Hilary starred in The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003 and a year later, Disney announced that the show was going to stop running new episodes.

To continue the road to teen-pop stardom, Hilary's music career kicked off with the release of her debut album, Metamorphosis, which featured hits like So Yesterday and Come Clean.
After her hit TV show stopped running, Hilary continued with music that was incorporated into her acting. She lit up the screen in 2003's "Cheaper by the Dozen" along with its sequel two years later.

From 2004 through to 2006 were big years for Duff as she starred in several movies and music projects like A Cinderella Story [2004] (movie) alongside Chad Michael Murray as Sam Montgomery as well as recorded songs for the movie's soundtrack (A Cinderella Story [Original Soundtrack]); Teresa 'Terri' Fletcher in Raise Your Voice [2004] (movie) which featured the heartfelt ballad Someone's Watching Over Me (that was included in Duff's self-titled album), Holly Hamilton in The Perfect Man [2005] (movie), and the critically acclaimed 2006 movie "Material Girls" with her older sister Haylie.

During this time, she released her self-titled album, Hilary Duff and Most Wanted which featured Duff's collection, a span of music hits from 2003-05.

Her fourth album, Dignity came out on March 21, 2007. The album themes were more of a dance-punk rock, electronic pop sound with mature-themed content - a strategic decision to break away from her well-known "good girl" Disney image.

After starring in films "Greta" (2008) and "Beauty & the Briefcase" and a guest recurring role on Gossip Girl, Duff chose to step away from the spotlight to focus on motherhood.
She also adapted to writing young adult books in the renowned "Elixir" trilogy series throughout the years 2010 to 2013. The books in order of release were: "Elixir", "Devoted" and "True".

Duff returned to the music scene mid 2014 after signing with RCA Records. She then released the singles: Chasing The Sun and All About You. These songs were originally intended for her then planned folk-pop/indie themed album, This Heart, but was ultimately scrapped due to Duff and her label changing the concept altogether of the sound for the album.

In 2015, after an 8-year music hiatus, she came out with her official fifth studio album titled Breathe In. Breathe Out. where she worked with and met her future husband, Matthew Koma. "Breathe In. Breathe Out" album's themes were electronic dance-pop that was popular around that time.

From 2015 to 2021, Duff was busy starring as Kelsey Peters on the Darren Star TV show, "Younger".
And in 2022, she was cast as Sophie as part of the new lineup to the "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff, a role-reversal show creatively titled "How I Met Your Father".
