5 posts | Actually The Hollies didn't write this song. Neil Diamond actually wrote it for them (hence why he has sung it on occasion). The Hollies version is, in my opinion, the best out there. |

but the story behind it is a little different: The Hollies made this song based upon a picture they saw of a girl carrying her brother around during the vietnam war.....it's a very strong song based on a true story! |

6 posts | many years ago, my husband-to-be (but not for many many years to come) told me the story of this song...how it's about a young man who literally carried his own brother around because he couldn't walk on his own...(I forget why).
It was a very inspiring story for our generation, who only seemed to think of ourselves... |
