Produced by Mike WiLL Made It (who seems to be everywhere in the urban game right now), "Body Party" is a sultry R&B mid-tempo. I like it. However, we all know it's too late to save this era. The gigantic floppage of "Sweat", "Sorry", and "Got Me Good" have caused major damage to Ciara's image. There's no denying that. Whenever a new era begins, the artist has to bring a certain freshness, and build anticipation for fans to truly connect with 'the moment', but what Ciara's done here is make a bad start, recording and releasing bad songs. She stuck to that dated urban sound, and went downhill with it. Fans on the ATL-bred songstress can say whatever they want, but the figures are there. None of the singles from "One Woman Army" up to now have even charted on the Billboard Hot 100 despite live television performances and expensive music videos. It appears now Ciara wanting to mend this critical situation went back to the studio to work on brand new material for ASAP release. "Body Party" is the first song from the new batch. A smooth R&B song. I could definitely hear Kelly Rowland singing this right now. "Body Party" has an enjoyable beat, and nice lyrics+singing by CiCi. I like it now, but who knows. I might get tired of it in a minute. Ciara shouldn't take long to premiere a music video, and kick-start big promotion. If "Body Party" flops, it'll be GAME OVER. FYI: Yes, "Body Party" is a baby-making song (lol), and it sees Ciara sampling and giving a modern twist to 1996's Ghost Town DJ's "My Boo" hit. |
