AboutIngrid Emiliana Alberini (born 11 September 1978 in Guastalla) is a female dance singer-songwriter from Italy. She is best known for her 2003 international club smash "You Promised Me (Tu Es Foutu)". The song was a big hit in Europe, Australia, Latin America and in the United States, where it reached #4 on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2004.
In-Grid began singing in her native Northern Italy. In 1994 she won the regional competition "the voice of San Remo". In 2002, record producers Larry Pignagnoli and Marco Soncini invited her to sing on a couple of ideas they were working on in the studio. She laid down the vocals of "Tu es Foutu" in one go. The track reached the Top 10 in Spain, Germany and Australia, and spent 41 weeks in the German sales charts.
The second single "In-Tango" also entered the sales charts in Germany and Denmark. In-Grid's debut album "RENDEZ-VOUS" went straight into the official album sales charts in Germany, and into the Top 50 in the European sales chart.
In-Grid was named after the famous film star, Ingrid Bergman. Her parents ran a cinema (and still do) and In-Grid grew up watching movies which she says were a major influence on her decision to become a singer.
Films sparked her imagination and fuelled her ambition to communicate strong emotions to as many people as possible. She started acting, painting and singing, soon to discover that for her music was the most powerful form of expression.
She began singing locally in her native Northern Italy and soon got a reputation for her great stage presence and the energy and colour of her voice.The internationally renowned record producers Larry Pignagnoli and Marco Soncini invited her to sing on a couple of ideas they were working on in the studio.
