| Well, personally I dont really think its their weakest. I think the song is pretty good compared to others they've made, and the message isnt hard to understand. |

| Incubus has yet to turn me down with their music (this track and many others on this cd are wonderful. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about a select few on this cd). I like this song quite a bit. |

this song is more mellow than incubus' old stuff. people are calling it weak, i find it to be them growing up a little.
anyhew. i like this song. it depresses me tho. simply because it reminds me of my boyfriend...who moved to arizona a while ago... were still together..but. yeah. it makes me sad.

When I first got the album, I liked all the songs except this one. Then I listened to it a few times and, what can I say, its grown on me. I really like it. |

Alright, so here's the deal with this song:
the rhythm is completely uninteresting
the melody is also completely uninteresting and just about average, which i dont' consider a compliment. the lyrics are real sweet and everything (i am a southern girl too,) but they're TRITE and way too repetitive. what makes this song listenable and enjoyable is that incubus is a good band. they play their intruments well and the lead singer is phenomenal. the vocals are nothing short of stellar. there's a sensitivity to his voice that you don't often hear, a genuiness that is captivating. it's also catchy. after hearing it once i could sing the whole thing back to you. but it most assuredly just sounds like a filler song---as in, hey guys, we need another song on the album, how about we put some repetitive words about something cute like a southern girl over two or three chords and record that shit. lovely and all but nothing impressive. |

I love the song (it's got a violen in it! ), but what kind of southern girl is he talkin about? Deep south , mexicano, a little hell raiser chik ? we may never know. and to the people who think it's a weak song |

| This song's 4/4 time is pretty consistant with almost every other track on the album, but the rhythm of the lyrics is original. Although it makes it interesting, the melody within each verse sounds a bit messy, although the chorus sounds great. The players definitely know what they're doing on their instruments, so the balance is awesome. The message is nice, but the lyrics are pretty straight-forward, a little simpler than is usually Incubus' style. But Brandon Boyd definitely brings it home with his vocals, as usual!
All in all, I really enjoyed this song. It's not Incubus' best song ever, but very few songs have that title. Go, Incubus! |
