interpol is a great band and their lyrics make more sense than you think. but most of the lyrics that are posted on this site are at least partially incorrect. go to their website at www.interpolny.com if you want to know what paul is really singing about in interpol's songs. |

Awesome song.  Probably the best of Interpol.  Really, I hope, Interpol will make more songs like that. I espacially liked lyrics. They are just great!  |

I think the song is about a stalking type of situation. "Spies" refers to people that obeserve with great detail from a distance and I do think the "slow hands" part refers to the slow hands of a clock. There is a line that goes "the hurting is so painless from the distance of passing cars" and another line that makes a reference to watching "pole dance of the stars. There is no part of the lyrics that suggest there was a real relationship, or even a conversation. Soooo ... I THINK that the song is about somebody that stalked an exotic dancer for a while and eventually got ther heart broke.... but maybe I'm reaching too much here? |
