Midnight, I keep hearing this sound
Midnight, wind's about, maybe rain
Like a woman's voice moaning – the couple upstairs?
Or a woman's voice crying – ghost woman out there in the dark
I don't look, I just listen, still wondering
Maybe it's the camellias rasping at my window
Ruined flowers now in winter; or an animal in distress
I try to read my book
But the sound keeps drawing me back
