 One of the 80's icons, Jacno, died on Friday (November 6) of cancer. Real name Denis Quillard, he had worked with Elli Medeiros, Lio & Mareva Galanter. He was 52.
Singer Jacno died on Friday at 52 years old, of cancer. Real name Denis Quillard, he founded the band Stinky Toys with Elli Medeiros in 1976, one of the first French punk bands, followed by Elli & Jacno in the 80's. After that, he collaborated with Lio, Pauline Lafont, Mathématiques Modernes, Etienne Daho, Daniel Darc, Jacques Higelin, Les Valentins, Paul Personne & more recently Mareva Galanter, with 2 songs on her album Yukuyéyé in 2005 : "Bang Bang" & "Ne Dis Rien". Jacno's last hit was a featuring in 2002 with the band Stupeflip, 7 years ago, "J'Fume Pu D'Shit" (N°95 in 2002). Born on July 3, 1957 in Paris, Jacno spent his childhood listening to Mozart, Chopin & Satie. He & Elli Medeiros recorded 2 albums together, Tout Va Sauter in 1980 & Boomerang in 1982. A real-life couple, the duet participated to the soundtrack of Eric Rohmer's film "Les Nuits De Pleine Lune" in 1984, before the end of their love story.
