 Very strange, "Une Nuit Sur Mon Epaule", Véronique Sanson's hit from 1972, covered in duet with Marc Lavoine in 1995, has been sampled by Jay-Z on his new single "History", to celebrate Barack Obama's victory...
According to the site evous.com, "Une Nuit Sur Mon Epaule", Véronique Sanson's hit, also sung in duet with Marc Lavoine (N°34 in 1995), becomes a hit celebrating the victory of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama ! Incredible ? However, American rapper Jay-Z releases the single "History", sampling the French singer's voice. The melody of course, but also Véronique Sanson's voice behind guitars & arrangements.
Also, Jay-Z, whose single "Swagga Like Us", featuring T.I., Kanye West & Lil Wayne, is aired on radios, will release his new album The Blueprint 3 in 2009.
Jay-Z, real name Shawn Corey Carter, was born on December 4, 1969 in Brooklyn. He became the most popular rapper of the East Coast, with his ex-rival Nas, since Notorious B.I.G.'s death. According to the magazine "Forbes", he is also one of the richest Americans (between 20 & 45) with $500 millions. His greatest hit in France has been "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)" (N°21 in 1999), don't forget featurings on Linkin Park's "Numb/Encore" (N°5 in 2005) & Rihanna's "Umbrella" (N°6 in 2007).
