I don't love this song, I adore it! Does John Mayer have a girlfriend that lives far away or something? he often seems to sing about long distances and stuff. sorry if thats a really durr thing to ask..!

vocal I love the live version of this song (kazaa download ) It seems so genuine and intimate. It also seems like somehow john encompasses multiple instruments within a single guitar. He does this same feat on the acoustic " Clarity ''. This is the Mayer that I love : Real,Raw , not over produced. The lyrics of 3 x 5 are magical. ''Colors of the cowboy cliche '' , ''next to mountains anyway''. I wish I could've seen him live before he become a pop star. Acoustic one man , one guitar. That would bring me ''Back to life''. vocal I never used to like John Mayer. I'm still not a big fan, but this is probably my favourite ever song. My brother bought me this album about 6 months ago, this one song grew on me.
I was listening to it when I travelled down to mid-Wales to visit the university I'm going to attend, it's really scenic and beautiful, and this song and the words mixed in with this. Probably the most powerful effect a song has ever had on me. I can't listen to this song without thinking of days past or of that journey. Amazing.
