My good people you couldn't recognize talent even if you had it. Joss Stone is the best she the best chage in music in a while. She has the best voice ever people buy the album she rocks. She is nice, polite, she can actually sing(not like other blonde I know), she has the courage to do what she enjoys and does best. You people have got to be kidding, right?
Joss Stone is yet another of the current trend of 'singers' (and I use the term loosely) who are simply people who have nice voices wailing into a microphone.
There is no real vocal control here, and even with studio editing we constantly hear the sharp intake of breath every other line or so- the mark of a karaoke night amateur who has been signed up by a music exec after a quick buck!
As for the melody and tune, it's catchy but somewhat grating and repetitive. By the time the song is halfway though I'm wishing it was over already and the radio would move onto something less irritating, like nails down a chalkboard (which given the choice of the two I would gladly takes for three and a half minutes).
As for the lyrics- they are corny, unimaginative and infantile. 'Your love is super duper'? How old emotionally was the person who wrote that? Twelve, Thirteen?
There's also great repetition and lack of structure here, with just 2 verses of 4 lines each, and 2 seperate refrains ending on a drawn out extended refrain. There is no proper chorus, the musical break lacks creativity and any display of true competency with the instruments, and the ever present 'wait a minute' line keeps sounding like it is alluding to a change in pace and/or key which is never delivered.
Quite frankly this just 'Popstars' tripe repackaged with a jazz/soul wrapping to make you think it is something different. More fool you if you've fallen for it!
