He was a very famous engineer in his time. why not look him up under "John Smeaton" on wikipedia. P.S I know this because I go to Leeds Grammar School (the school that john smeaton and ricky wilson both attended.)

1 posts	Hi there, When KC say: "If it wasn't for chip fat they'd be frozen" are they meaning "If it wasn't for the adipose tissue of the girls (who are overweight), they'd be frozen". I thinked "chip fat" was the oil we use to fry chips, but maybe it means "adipose tissue" too. Am I wrong Giob

1 posts	Everyone does this clear things up for you: Ricky attended Leeds Grammar School, whilst at the Junior School he was in the school house Smeaton named after former pupil John Smeaton and referenced in the Kaiser Chiefs song "I Predict a Riot". John Smeaton is indeed the father of modern civil engineering. "Thee" here is not old english, it's a Yorkshire colloquialism for you or your as in "have thee got thee hat lad?" - "have you got your hat young fellow?"!
