American idol fifth season runner-up Katherine McPhee will be returning with her second LP in October titled "Unbroken."
People magazine unveiled a new look Katherine McPhee with sexy platinum blonde shag. She told the magazine, "My music is a little more edgy so that inspired me to be adventurous." The new look is set to promote McPhee's upcoming second album Unbroken due in stores October 6, 2009.
The new adventurous album also comes with a new label. After her self-titled debut struggled commercially, the RCA label dropped Katharine McPhee. Last January it was announced that she had signed a new recording deal with Verve Forecast. The label was created in 1967 by the jazz label Verve to house folk artists. It has since evolved to be the home for any non-jazz Verve artists. The label is known for cutting edge work and nurturing careers instead of focusing simply on commercial success. Among Katharine McPhee's label mates are Aqualung, Blues Traveler and Teddy Thompson. The album is expected to showcase Katharine McPhee's songwriting as well as singing talent.
McPhee recently recorded a cover of the song "Connected" for the Mattel movie Barbie and the Diamond Castle. The was orginally sung by actress Sara Paxton. McPhee's version of the song was produced by Room For Two and a music video was also recorded to be featured on the movie's DVD. The video and song are available on the movie's website. The soundtrack CD and movie DVD and Blu-ray were released for sale in September 2008. |
