Katie Melua (real name Ketevan Melua) was born on September 16, 1984 in Tbilissi, Georgia. Her father, a heart surgeon, settled in Ireland when Katie was 9, then they went to London in 1998. Katie decided to begin her artistic career after she had won in a TV song contest. She studied music in a school until 2003. The same year, she was discovered by a producer. She recorded her first single "Call Off The Search", which became N°1 in charts. Her first album, with the same name, has been released in 2004.
Melting jazz & blues with her magnificent voice, the album found its audience. The young girl was very mature. She came back in 2005 with her second album Piece By Piece, sounding like the previous one : a great singer came on. Katie's third album Pictures, released in 2007, confirmed her talent & got more successful. |
