Eight-time Academy of Country Music Award winner Kenny Rogers will be the recipient of the special Career Achievement Award at the 36th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on May 9, 2001
The honour of the Career Achievement Award is selectively awarded to an individual artist who has had fame in prior years and had a substantial comeback in the preceding calendar year. The award is voted on by the ACM Board of Directors.
It has been given out only three other times in ACM history. Past winners of the Career Achievement Award include: Johnny Paycheck (1977); Carl Perkins (1986); and John Anderson (1993).
Glen Campbell, a long-time friend of Kenny and nine-time ACM Award winner, presented the special award
Rogers also performed “There You Go Again” the title track from his new album.
Kenny has been one of the most consistent and resilient voices in country music for the past quarter century. His list of achievements in the industry is overwhelming and we are pleased to present him with this recognition |
