| The person I chose to write a report on is Kirko Bangz. I chose him because he is my favorite rapper and I like to listen to his music. Kirko Bangz is from Houston, Texas. His stage name is Kirko Bangz but his real name is Kirk Randle. Kirko Bangz was born August 20, 1989 and he is twenty-two years old. He started rapping when he was 15 years old and used his life as inspiration. As he was growing up he saw his mother's struggle as a single parent. He started using his mother's pain to keep him going. Kirko Bangz was pouring out his feelings into his music. His mother's struggle was his motivation to keep on rapping. Even though Kirko Bangz started rapping he didn't drop out of school, unlike most rappers. He actually has an education; he currently attends Prairie View A&M University and is majoring in mass communications. He wants to go to college and get an education so he can be successful in life and so he can make his mother proud. That's one of the reasons why he is my favorite rapper. At Prairie View he was able to balance school and his music career. In 2009 he released his first mix tape Procrastination Kills. A lot of fellow students at Prairie View A&M University loved his music. But one of the students that liked Kirko's music named D. Will is a manager and he helped Kirko Bangz get bigger and famous, D. Will is currently Kirko's manager. Kirko Bangz was still sort of a local rapper. Until Kirko released his first official single named "What "What Yo Name Iz?" on February 7, 2011. Really his first major hit actually began as a freestyle. When the song came out people started going crazy including myself. "What Yo Name Iz?" was number ninety- seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs during the week of October 23, 2010. Then the song played on 106 & Park (106 & Park Is the number-one video countdown show on television) that's when the song went form number ninety-seven to number forty-one on the billboard charts. He released another mix tape shortly after on March 1, 2011. Kirko Bangz was getting more popular and more people started listening to his music. All this success still hasn't distracted him from school. Then, Kirko Bangz put out his second single named "Drank In My Cup" was released on September 16, 2011. This song was better than his first single "What Yo Name Iz?" and it did better on the billboard charts. "Drank In My Cup" was number forty and then shot up to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Drank In My Cup" is personally one of my favorite songs that Kirko Bangz has ever recorded. Kirko Bangz was putting out songs even though he wasn't singed to a record label. Kirko had caught the attention of Warner Bros. Records and they ended up signing him to their record company. |
