Personally, this song is one of my favourites, and it's somewhat hard to keep an objective opinion on thing when you've fallen flat-out, head-over-heels with this song. 
The tune is recognizable enough, especially with Lenny's voice and the beat, and even if the lyrics aren't all that great compared to others, everything else seems to make up for it.
