AboutLes Prêtres is a French trio, founded by Mgr. Jean-Michel Di Falco. The project was inspired by the success of a similar Irish musical project called The Priests. The 3 members are
Jean-Michel Bardet (born on November 17, 1964), of the parish of Gap cathedral since 2004.
Charles Troesch (born on June 1, 1982), ordained a priest in June 2009 & serving as a vicar of the Parish of Saint-Roch de Gap, later named chaplain of the Notre-Dame du Laus Basilica in September 2010
Joseph Dinh Nguyen Nguyen (born on December 5, 1984), former seminary student in the diocese from 2004 to 2007.
The beginnings
After having encountered Didier Barbelivien, Mgr. Di Falco, bishop of Gap & Embrun, proposed to 2 priests & a former member of the seminary to record songs. The 2 projects were pastoral (building a church in Notre-Dame-du-Laus) & charity (building a school in Madagascar).
Spiritus Dei
In March 2010, Les Prêtres' debut album came out on TF1 Musique (distributed by Universal France). From April to June, the album has topped the French album charts during 9 weeks. The album has been certified diamond disc with 500,000 copies sold.
In December 2010, Les Prêtres released a live DVD, recorded in June 2010 at Rouen's Cathedral with the choir "Les Copains D'Accord", who appeared on Spiritus Dei.
Gloria
In April 2011, Les Prêtres' second album came out on TF1 Musique. It topped French album charts during 5 weeks. After the tour, Joseph Dinh Nguyen Nguyen said that he was dropping out of the seminary after many years.
