27 posts | oh no! Mainstream! AHHHHHHHHH D:
Less songs are good, although given up and no more sorrow are awesome, they finally went mainstream. that corrupts bands. Bring back old LP. |

2 posts | Linkin Park has always been a favorite of mine. But in their first two efforts, the factor that seperates greatness from perfection has always been a lack of connection or sensitivity in their music. Yes they sound angry, but beyond that, it doesn't really sound like they feel anything other than hatred. Yet on this record, they've allowed temselves to feel the weight of their songs. "Wake", the opening instrumental is a mysterious front to the album, but matches the tone perfectly. The name even seems to fit cozily. Eventually, the song subtly fades into the first proper track, "Given Up." This feels like classic LP. Agressive guitar, screaming vocals, and an awesome bass-line add up to a pretty angry, misery stricken hardcore punk anthem, but to anyone with an attitude towards something other than breaking things, does'nt quite hit the emotionally sensitive spot the band needs to. "Leave Out All The Rest", begins with a soft keyboard intro, raw drums, and right away we know this is not the old Linkin Park. Chester Bennington's lead vocals come in softly, as he begins singing - not screaming - his sensitive plead for redemption. The electric guitar doesn't really come in until the final repeat of the endlessly powerful chorus, giving the song a strong climax, making up for the flawsit doesn't have. This is personally my favorite song, and exactly what the album needed. "Bleed It Out" is more what you expect. With rapped verses, screamed chorus, agressive drumming, and powerful guitar, it's alot like old LP, but more on the rock end of things. "Shadow Of The Day" sounds a lot like U2's "With Or Without You", but this progressive ballad has enough twists to make it anything but derivitave. The strings, keyboards, vocals, drumming and guitar all get louder and faster throughout the lengthy song, and it's a great showcase of Chester's voice, and one of the best songs on the album. It slowly fades into the next song "What I've Done", a powerful rock anthem with great guitar and drums, and toned down electronica elements, making it almost straight rock. The strange political rap "Hands Held High" is a little weird, blending a church choir and organ with rapped vocals, but LP pulls it off (like always). The exstensive snare drum somehow found a fitting place in there too. Following this song up perfectly is the heav metal anthem "No More Sorrow", with a memorable guitar intro, and agressive drumming. Due to the previous track, and lyrical refrences such as "Freedom", "hipocrit", this could be a political song, but not neccesarrily. The heartbreaking lament "Valentine's Day" feels restrained, but not like old LP. Here he feels sadness, when he should feel anger - much like old LP, just the other way around. But in the tracks final moments, all the feelings that seemed so bottled up are unleashed into our ears, giving the song a perfect climax. "In Between" features Mike Shinoda singing - or more like talking, very melodically, a break from his usual rap. It is soft with little instrumentation, but still feels perfectly fitting. "In Pieces" is a progreesive angry romantic punk rock song, and it's lyrics are alot like Old LP's, but more connected to its emotionality. It's a great song, and perfectly sets up the next track. I won't spoil any details about "The Little Things Give You Away," it is the absolute perfect climax to this album in every way, so I'm not giving anything away. The bonus track "No Roads Left" has Mike Shinoda singing proper vocals. It's a powerful rock song that begs the question "Why the hell isn't this on the main album?" It would have fit in perfectly. It shouldn't follow up "Little Things" though. So I'd stick it on a seperate album on your iPod if I were you, so that the CD can have it's pproper song at the end. Overall, this is a near-perfect album that features wide-spread genres such as electronica, rock, alternative and rap, intertwined to form a well-rounded CD, that pulls off having songs like "In Between" and "No More Sorrow" on the same disc. Most of the songs on their own don't sound like they belong on the same album, yet together in their proper order, they create a masterpiece that is truly greater than the sum of it's parts.

36 posts | Linkin Park rocks!!! I know most of the Linkin Park songs. |

428 posts | Wake - Not like Foreword. It stretches for long enough and has got a nice composition of the instruments.
Given Up - A pretty awesome song for those who want LP to remain hardcore. Tempo is fast enough and as always, the screaming part of Chester rocks ! Leave Out All The Rest - There's no awesome song than this. The lyrics, the instruments, the way Chester sings and everything. It's very much addictive and speaks so many great things which we can't in a creative way. This song is the best slow song by LP. I am waiting for another one like this ! Bleed It Out - Nothing to say for this song. It rocks. Nice rap Mr. Mike ! Shadow of The Day - Earlier I though it's a song for the love hearted people. But after looking at the video, I realize it's for eternal peace. Some of my friends don't really like this song. But it's good. Tip: Do you see that Chester walks to his destination in the video ? (Don't have a better word than destination). Try to do that when you leave for some place on foot with this music in your ears. You'll love it! What I've Done - Another music by this band which really tells us to have a true democracy all over the world. Stop polluting the only home we have. It makes me wonder if this album is more of a call for peace to the world ! Hands Held High - Almost the complete song is sung my Mike. I totally love the lyrics and I'm spending my time opening up the lyrics and singing along. It's true for so many countries. If you read/hear the lyrics/song, you will realize that you are sleeping and doing nothing for the sake of the country ! No More Sorrow - Ah! This one rocks ! Another political song in line by Linkin Park and cal for reviving the people sleeping and looking at those leaders and just doing as they are saying. Time for a revolution ! Valentine's Day - Direct romance, huh ? Well, good song. Specially in the end. Nice instrumental part. The way Chester sings this is good too ! Yesterday, I asked one of my friend if he thought that this band was a "Romantic Nu Metal/Rapcore band" and he said it is but more of Political now. In Between - For broken hearted guys. Less instruments. I think people don't really listen to this song much. In Pieces - Got nothing to say for this one. The Little Things Give You Away - Man, LP was never into much of such long music with a lot of instruments mix that other metal bands do ! The lyrics (As I always say No Roads Left - Well, this song is the first one of it's type I think. The initial part of the song sounds a little awkward but as it goes on, the music and the vocal part, both sound good. All - This album is the best ever !! |

98 posts | While this is a good album, very good, I do like the older sound better.
Hopefully they'll include more Nu Metal in another album instead of mostly rock. Still a really good album. |

9 posts | Linkin Park was the band that got me into listening to music at all and will always be on my favorites. After Meteora I really wanted them to bring out a new album, but sadly, with this i'd rather them not to do so. I think the best song is 'no more sorrow' it starts pretty good, but then the song goes plain and a bit boring. It is not the linkin park i loved anymore. Most of the songs are plain adn repetitive and i'll even say they lack some instrumentation. *sigh* |

8 posts | It's truly and amazing album just like always Linkin Park did. you deserve to be the best LP, it's and albun who change your kind of rock music but doing in an exellent way and let's not talk about the lyrics there are just... great.
take a look for "What I've done" "No More Sorrow" "Valentyne's Day" "Leave ...The Rest" |

10 posts | i love the album and how they have a new style but still kept songs that would make original fans happy. personally i have no problem with the album but you could definitely see why some people do. they like the old style and for the most part thats not what this is, but its great and i love it. |

1 posts | This album was AMAzing. I thought LP was good before, but now I feel they are just the best. I have never seen anyone come out with a completely different sound and continue to have so many supporters, these guys really have talent. The album is so rich in meaning and purpose, its like every song has some sort of inspiration and its really personable. I happen to love Shadow of the day, In Pieces, and The Little Things Give You Away. Great Album, Great Sound, and Great Meaning. |

118 posts | the more I listen to it the more I love it. it may not be their best album for the lack of their typical sound but still love it. the ballads are very good - soft, meaningful and there are couple of songs with more beat and so, and that makes it really good. as soon as I bought it I put the songs on my iPod in a folder with their old songs and when I get to them it is like a fresh air (not that I mind being without air if it sounds li Crawling or I the end), it is just different and it is till good.
my one word reveiw - "addicted-to-it-more-and-more" |

1 posts | I liked linkin park and all their music so much that it was all I'd listen to.
But then, I think Linkin park is losing a bit of its touch while Mike Shinoda was out with Fort Minor. Though, I really like Bleed It Out, What I've Done, and No More Sorrow the best. Maybe Linkin park is not doing as well, or something, as before, but that doesn't mean their real bad. They're still my favorite band of all.. |

6 posts | Everything about this album is great. Their new tyle brings out the creativeness of all of the members. Every song has potential to be a great song. Although the change in their style makes them a little different, I think this change has made them better. I believe that all of the LP records are great and this one definitely doesn't fall short of expectations. If you have the money, buy it. I bought it like the second day it was out. I'm more of a rap/hip-hop fan but Linkin Park is so great that most of the time, I'd rather listen to their music, than my favorite genre of music. They are that good. |
