Love it
The lyrics are so good
They are so inspired
I love the line
"When the rich wage war it's the poor who die"
It was the first lyric in the album that stuck out to me
well done

This was amazing. I heard this song via MP3 that someone sent me, and I went out and bought the album.

The song is exceedingly relevant. I wouldn't call it "deep", because its meaning is quite plainly stated. It says what it says with no remorse, no subtlety, and no fear. It would have to be this way, because it's exactly what the lyrics are saying ("I wanna see some fists pumping, risk something, take back what's yours, say something that you know they might attack you for") to do. And it's something we could all stand to do now and again. Especially now.

On the technical side, everything about this song hooked me. The rhythm and what exists of the melody are both perfect for the song. I've already said my piece on the lyrics, truly outstanding. I'm going to count the vocals and instruments all as one in this last bit here, because the chorus (I'm pretty sure it's a choir simply singing "amen") is absolutely chill-inducing, especially in its context, and though stark in contrast to the harder rapping, blends seamlessly into this song.

I'll say this one more time. I spent $15 on the Minutes To Midnight album simply because I heard this song. I don't think anything else really needs to be said.

An addendum: This song suffers just a bit because it has succumbed to LPD--Linkin Park Disease. This is a phenomenon that seems to occur in music from time to time, and I'm sure it's happened before LP was around, but they were the first ones I noticed it from so obviously.

Any LP fan should know "Pushing Me Away", from the Hybrid Theory album, and "Numb" from Meteora. Anyone with any hint of musical inclination has to have noticed that these songs don't just sound similar, they sound identical. Don't believe me? Listen to one behind the other. Listen to the beats, the melodies, especially listen to the lyrical structure--not the words, per se, but the way the words are organized in the song--and if that's not enough, try singing Chester's part from "Pushing Me Away" during the refrain of "Numb". They mesh together too well for it to be a coincidence.

I can't re-rate this song, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I would re-rate this song even if I could; I stand by what I made in my last post. However, it loses just a little bit of its uniqueness when you listen to Fort Minor's "Where'd You Go?" just before listening to "Hands Held High". You notice the same types of similarities in structure, rhythm, a little bit of melody, and the sung refrain from "Where'd You Go?" can simply be switched out liberally with the chorus from this one.

Of course, this really only means one thing. I like that song a lot too.

Hands Held High doesn't really fit with the album and is a Fort Minor song in a Linkin Park album. But it's still a great song.

I wish I could give the lyrics, like, eighty out of five. They're so good.

Amazing song. Mike's definitely improved, and the message is extremely powerful.

One of the greatest song ever by Linkin Park. Their latest album rocks, it is much more mature than the previous one, there is a meaning. Hands Held High is the combination of great and realistic lyrics with a nice melody.
Top 10 for me.

Christian Linkin Park?? Interesting. Very good message though, dealing with the Middle East and war
