| Alright.. after much research, discussion amongst Live fans, and a few who have never seen the lyrics before - I've determined that the meaning of the song is left for the interpretation of the listener - whatever suits their needs. Different people find comfort in different interpretations. MY interpretation of it is that it's just the cycle of life. As an old lady is dying down the hall... a mother is crying because she's starting a new life. The angel closes her eyes to death and opens them again to a new life. the symbolism in the title lightning crashes is simply to dramatically show how life can change that quickly - but, like I said. That suits me, it makes me realize that even in death, there's something incredible happening in another life right down the hall.. and that's comforting. | Probably my favorite song from Live, and Live has remained one of my favorite bands longer than any band, all my different phases of music, since I was like 5 years old they have been (now 17). The hole CD, Throwing Copper is awesome, plus around here they are popular because they are from here. I'm the same not only to a few days ago i realised what i was singing about to he song, then i had to lookp the lyrics. Whatever you choose to interpret them as they hav strong meaning either way. I love ths song and it always makes you stop to think about it when you hear it.
I love lyrics like these, the ones that make you stop and actually thnk about the things in life itself!!

What is special about LIVE music, is that you actually FEEL it. You are not just listening and enjoying it, you're feeling it deep in your soul. That is why once I heard LIVE I cannot live without their music anymore. I never heard anything better!
