Louis Armstrong is an African American Dixieland Jazz musician and a singer. Who's known for his trumpet playing and his trademark smile and scat singing. He is considered one of the most famous American Jazz musicians of all time. He is known for the positive outlook on life. His most famous songs are What a Wonderful World, Hello Dolly, hellzapoppin, Heepers Jeepers, When the Saints go marching in, Mack the Knife, Heebie Jebbies, Ain't Misbehavin' You Rascal You and is also known for singing with his female friend Ella Fitzgerald Can't we be friends. He is also featured in Hollywood movies including High Society 1958, Hello Dolly 1969. He also performed with famous Jazz musicians including King Oliver, Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Barbara Streisand.

Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans USA, in a poverty home with parents before they split up, also Louis considers his birth date in 1900, Louis Armstrong was living at the time when racism and segregation was present in his time, despite this he would grow up to be a Jazz musician and maintain his positive attitude. His father left the family when he was just a baby and grew up in a rough neighbor of New Orleans and his mother took him to live with his grandma. Louis when to a school called Fisk School for Boys where he was influenced by music. He also struggled to find work as a kid which he worked as paperboy, and as a musician on the street to support and protect his mother from prostitution, he went to Nightclubs and restaurants to learn the ways of musicians and tried to stay out of trouble.

On New Years eve in 1912, Louis Armstrong got in trouble for firing a gun with blanks during the fireworks celebration and was arrested by the police and was sent to a detention school called Colored Waifs where Peter Davis helped Louis out with being a better citizen and had him be a leader in the Jazz band and learned to play the coronet. He also got a job as a coal hauler in the day and played his coronet at night. Later on he met King Oliver who helped him out in the Brass bands and Louis performed in Brass bands with his Jazz club playing Jazz music even during the troubled times of World War 1. When King Oliver left for Chicago Louis formed his own Jazz band called Kid Ory's band. Later on he got a job on the riverboat as a Jazz player, touring North America and entertaining guests on the riverboat.

In 1918 Louis Armstrong married Daisy Parker his first wife but they got divorced in 1923. Then in 1922 King Oliver invited Louis to move to Chicago to perform in the Jazz bands and entertained people during the Roaring Twenties. In 1924 he married his second wife who stayed with him until his second divorce in 1938. Louis worked at the silent film theaters and at Jazz concerts performing Dixieland Jazz music singing and playing his trumpet. His first song "Hebbie Jebbies" became popular among American Jazz fans.
When the Great Depression hit America in 1929 it was hard on Louis even though he cheered up the Americas during the Great Depression era. He also appeared in black and white film concerts in theaters and played songs "When the Saints go Marching in", Hellzapoppin' he also make guest appearances in Hollywood movies including a Betty Bop cartoon "I'll be glad when you're dead you rascal you" 1932, "Pennies from Heaven" 1936, "Going Places" 1938. Then in 1938 Louis married a third time to Alpha Smith and stayed together until their divorce in 1942. Then he married his forth final wife Lucille Wilson who was a dancer that he would stay together with until their deaths in 1971.

When World War 2 broke out Louis Armstrong played in Jazz Swing bands in restaurants, Nightclubs and Jazz concerts. and entertained people during the troubled times of World War 2. During the late 1940s members of big band were diminishing and ballrooms closed due to the rise of television. But Louis still played in Jazz bands even on TV. In 1956 Louis performed a duet with Ella Fitzgerald on songs "Can't we be Friends" which became popular at the time. Louis also appeared in Hollywood movies "Cabin in the Sky" 1943 "Atlantic City" 1944, "Pillow to Post" 1945, "Glory Alley" 1952, "High Society" 1958, "Paris Blues" 1961, "A man called Adam" 1966, and his final movie "Hello Dolly" 1969.

In 1963 he recorded his song "What a Wonderful World" which became more popular than "The Beatles" and "The Beach Boys" during that time. He also recorded "Hello Dolly" which was used in the Hollywood musical "Hello Dolly" 1969. He spent the final years going on Jazz concert tours.

Then on July 6 1971 Louis Armstrong died of a heart attack in New York City. There was a public funeral in honor of Louis Armstrong. Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington performed in his honor. President Nixon said that he shared the sorrow of a famous Jazz musician.

Today Louis Armstrong is considered the greatest Jazz musician of all time and influenced many Jazz musicians.
