About Meet the new Lucie Silvas. In 2005, her critically acclaimed, platinum album 'Breathe In' sold 400,000 copies and included four hit singles – including the Top Ten smash hits 'What You're Made Of' and 'Breathe In' - but that was then and this is now. After a nationwide UK tour, global commercial success and Number 1 singles in Spain, Germany, Holland and France, the prodigiously gifted songstress is back with her first new material in 3 years. Produced by Danton Supple, the man behind Coldplay's 'X&Y', it has a warm, emotive and organic sound.

Since she appeared on the scene three years ago, the 29 year-old singer/songwriter has continued to go from strength to strength. She's spent the last twelve months cementing her success around the world with UK festivals and a sell-out, headline European tour.

Now, as the focus turns to 'The Same Side' - Lucie's eagerly awaited second album, released November 6th, it's clear she has changed as a writer, performer and person. The powerhouse voice is stronger, but more controlled. Her writing is solvent and savvy, but without pretence. The sound is less, but so much more. "I knew what I wanted with this album. I just wanted to sing my songs, play my piano and have a sound that's authentic. No programming or artificial sounds of the moment." Lucie says.

A naturally talented performer, Lucie played the piano from the age of 5 and composed her first song by the time she was 10. Influenced by classic artists such as Dusty Springfield, The Beatles, The Carpenters, Paul Simon, plus contemporaries like John Mayer and India Arie, she was clear on her vision – this album had to be real and honest. It had to play to her varied strengths and, after searching, she found the perfect producer in Danton Supple.

"We were introduced through a mutual contact and it went from there. Funny how it's always little things that make big things happen. I'd met several producers, including many in the US, but the connection with Danton was different." Lucie adds. "I sat down with him and he understood me completely. He told me he'd already made up his mind about my album being very safe, but that he could see so much more."

With the new album, the proof of growth is undeniable. "It's like nothing I had on 'Breathe In'. This LP is a pause in my life. It's almost like I've stopped and am reflecting what's around me. The way I'm singing is more relaxed. Songs like 'Place To Hide' and 'Trying Not To Lose' are more vocally mellow, and I don't feel the need to prove the range of my voice. There's also a 20's feel song called 'Stolen' which was very experimental for me."

Having been on the road across Europe until June, Lucie found herself at a crossroads – looking back at who she was on the last album, and who she is now. "These songs are about love, life and being the person you are. There's nothing more complicated than that."

With the forthcoming single and eagerly awaited new album, Lucie Silvas has successfully consolidated her reputation as one of the UK's most talented, dexterous and credible female singer/songwriters.
