AboutMarit Elisabeth Larsen and Marion Elise Ravn were born in the early eighties in a small Norwegian town called Lørenskog. The two met at the age five and became friends when they realised they shared a very similar interest: music!

Marion had begun taking lessons in piano as a child and formed a pretend band called 'Hubba Bubba' with Marit and her other friends. As young teenagers, Marit and Marion seperated from their friends and went to record their first album in Norway. It was a thematic album, meant for children. The album turned out to be a surprinsing hit and was even nominated for a Norwegian grammy. After their mediocre success, Marit and Marion began to write their own fresh breed of pop songs.

As soon as the managers from the recording label Atlantic Records heard of the girls, they decided to give them a shot at stardom by signing them. Marit and Marion then we're headed off to the United States, for the first time, to record their debut album. And before they could release material, Marit and Marion needed to come forth to the public with a catchy and clever band name. They ran a contest on the internet at Alloy.com, asking fans to come up with a name for them. A girl on the site suggested the name, M2M. Favouring the name and so, Marit and Marion officially became known as M2M.

It was late summer of 1999 when Atlantic Records decided to bring M2M into the people's view. They released M2M's first single, Don't Say You Love Me, as the single off the popular "Pokemon: The First Movie" soundtrack. It became a huge Top 40 hit and marked only the beginning for M2M.

In March 2000, M2M released their debut studio album, Shades Of Purple, for the world to hear. Billboard acclaimed it the soundtrack of the spring and summer of 2000. Besides DSYLM came the follow-up hits: Mirror Mirror, Pretty Boy, Everything You Do, The Day You Went Away, and Girl In Your Dreams. The latter song was a soft romantic ballad originally written by Marion at age thirteen and her first song on her piano that meant for a boy who wrote her heart in school.

It wasn't too long until M2M became a huge hit even in Asia. Their trilingualism made them popular in the orient (especially in the Philippines, where they are most popular as they released several songs sung in Mandarin such as "Pretty Boy". However, they did not record a Mandarin version of their hit "The Day You Went Away"; Taiwanese singer Cyndi Wang recorded her own version instead. In order to further promote the album, M2M toured in many different places around the world, as well as opening for the popular band, Hanson. They also played a gig on the tv show, "One World".

Two years later, the duo returned with a more mature, less pop-oriented sound. M2M released their anticipated 2002 sophomore album, The Big Room. It unveiled a much more elaborate and edgier side of M2M.

In two years, their voices had changed, especially Marion's. The first rock-sounding single, Everything, was a great way to justify M2M's drastic change in style and music. The following singles were What You Do About Me, Wanna Be Where You Are, and Don't. In the summer of 2002, M2M became the brief opener for singer Jewel's 2002 summer tour. Rocking the stages, M2M proved themselves to the audience, as well as the rest of the world, to be the most original, gorgeous, and talented girls in the business.

In 2002, while on tour, M2M was dropped by Atlantic Records, who cited a lack of record sales. Although the album did do well in countries Norway, Asia and Australia.

Marion was later offered a new contract and released her first solo album, Here I Am, in June 2005 while Marit attended the University of Oslo during her hiatus and released her solo debut album, Under The Surface, in March 2006. On March 31, 2006, it became official that, in less than a month, Larsen's album became a certified gold record after selling over 20,000 copies in Norway.

Since launching their solo careers, both members have reached #1 on the Norwegian singles chart - Marit for Don't Save Me and Marion (alongside the late singer Meat Loaf) for "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" (a cover of the song originally sung by Céline Dion) - something that was never accomplished by M2M as a duo.

Nowadays they are known as artists - Marion Raven and Marit Larsen.
