Malrun - Biography

last update : 19-05-2012 14:03
The Danish rock band MALRUN combines forceful dynamic guitar riffs and addictive melodies. In a lot of ways Malrun is about duality and contrasts. While the band no doubt lives for the explosive energy in their music and their high speed live performances there's also a deep and much darker and hurtful side to the music and especially to the lyrics.

The band released two EPs in 2007 and 2008 which received great reviews in the Danish music industry. In 2009 Malrun started playing larger concerts and festivals and in late 2009 Malrun had the honor of supporting the American rock band "Staind" thereby performing in front of a huge crowd. Malrun recently performed at the SPOT Festival (May 2010) as one of the selected bands for the event "SPOT Metal – The Nordic Explosion".

Malrun recorded their debut album "Beauty in Chaos" in 2010 at Hansen Studio (Volbeat, Mercenary, The Storm, Dúné). The album clearly shows that Malrun has taken the duality concept to yet another level as the music is now even more metal inspired and yet the vocals are more melodic and emotional than ever before.

The release of their second album 'The Empty Frame' in March 2012 and follow up on the release with a 3½ week tour with Die Apokalyptischen Reiter (DE), Kontrust (AT) and Emil Bulls (DE).

'The Empty Frame' was released via Target / Mighty Music throughout Europe on March 5th 2012 and may very well be one of the most promising new melodic metal albums in 2012.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Mercenary, Fear My Thoughts) and will retain MALRUNs characteristic crossbreed of hard-hitting metal, groovy riffs and melodic rock. This time around, however, MALRUN has pushed things to the boundaries, making the metal elements more metal and the melodies more melodic.

European Tour
To properly kick off the release of the new album MALRUN will be supporting Die Apokalyptischen Reiter (DE) on their 3½ week 'The Greatest of the Best' European tour from April 21st to May 13th. The tour will bring MALRUN to Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and England.
