AboutMartin Solveig (real name Martin Picandet) is a French composer, disc-jockey, keyboardist & singer, born on September 22, 1976 in Paris, France. At 13, Martin got his first turntables & that influenced him to take up a career in electronic music, rather than the classical music he was listening to. He started his first residency at Paris' leading club Le Palace with the support of Claude Monnet. Martin then moved to another famous Paris nightclub, Les Bains Douches, where he worked with famous DJs such as Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez & Bob Sinclar. His popularity further increased with the Pure parties at the Queen Club, either as a DJ or as an art director.
In 2001, Martin participated to Bob Sinclar's project "Africanism". In 2002, he released his first album Sur La Terre on Universal & a remix of Salif Keita's "Madan" followed in June 2003. After that, he continued with Hedonist in June 2005 & the song "Everybody" was a success. On his albums, singers have been Lee Fields, Michael Robinson or Stephy Haïk. The compilation, So Far, came out in December 2006 & Martin released his third album C'Est La Vie in June 2008. During spring 2008, the French DJ was part of "Fun DJ Sélection". On September 20, 2008, French Culture Minister Christine Albanel decorated Martin "Chevalier Des Arts Et Des Lettres" & in February 2009, he received a Victoire De La Musique for "Dance/Electro Artist".
