Name - Sari Fawasi Abboud
Born - December 10, 1980 in Beirut, Lebanon
Occupation - R&B, pop, and hip hop singer

“you can cure racism and hate by injecting music and love into people’s lives”- BOB MARLEY

Massari (real name Sari Abboud) started as a dreamer, a talanted soul and a wishfull thinker. The 26 year old sagittarius, eldest of three, born in Beirut, Lebanon. moved with his family to Montreal at the age of 10 to break out of the unrest within the population at that time. Later, at 13 he moved to Ottawa with his younger brothers Sami and Samer, unfortunately no sisters which made sari respect the girls more and love them. He has made Ottawa his home, in 2002 he released his first song "Spitfire" that received local radio airplay on Ottawa's Hot 89.9. & where he currently resides. Later known as Massari, an Arabic translation of the word money,
pronounce (Ma-ssa-ree).

“Because of my background, my music is heavily influenced with middle-eastern melodies.”

Massari is not just for fame and glory, but a representation pf a deeper meaning, the chosen to represent a cultural background, a proud Lebanese-Canadian and as respected man of faith and hope.

“i dream that one day when the name Massari is mentoined, that it would be a reflection of the great value that i cherish and hold dear in my life. The meaning of the name is not only seen trhoug the growth of the monetary aspects in life, but as a gained attribute that provides wealth an opportunutues to accomplish and achieve our goals and dreams.”

Mimicking the pop, soul and power that came from live performances such as Micheal Jackson, Aretha Franklin, and Arabic singer George Wassouf, Massari learned very early on, that music, in this life, does not discriminate, but rather unite us.

As the road less traveled, is often the path for those who achieve greatness, Massari has been a true tesament to his philosophy. With a plethora of hit singles, critically acclaimed music videos, collaborations and accolades in his repertoire, he has not forgotten the roots from which he has grown.

Now after a few more years of living under his belt, Massari introduces his new single, “In Love Again”, celebrating his renaissance and return to his first and only love-affair music.
Always inspired from the colorful Arabian palate that he has grown up with, Massari infuses his new single with a tempting dance beat, and a sense of carefree spirit. “In Love Again” is the honest love letter of a songwriter who has experienced his fair share of life, while gracefully evolving into an artist that will continue to do what he was mean to do.

“the people who are trying to make this world worse are not taking a day off, how can i?”- BOB MARLEY

Biography

Massari

Massari born Sari Abboud, ساري عبّود on December 10, 1981 in Beirut, Lebanon) is an Arab R&B, pop and hip-hop singer from Lebanon, who grew up in Canada.

Massari was born in Beirut, Lebanon, moved to Montreal at the age of 10 and at 13 he moved to Ottawa where he currently resides. The trilingual artist - fluently speaks English, French and Arabic - cites Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and the Arabic singer George Wassouf who taught him to sing from his heart, says Massari about how this legendary singer has affected his music.

In 2002, Massari recorded and released "Spitfire" which garnered heavy rotation on Ottawa radio stations. He has been steadily writing and developing his sound. He returned in 2005 with his self-titled debut album release on May 31, 2005 through MapleNationWide/Universal, which has since been certified gold in Canada (50,000+ sold).

Massari was nominated for 5 MuchMusic Video Awards in 2006, 4 for Be Easy and 1 for Real Love. He won the award for Best Pop Video, during the 2006 MMVAs, for Be Easy.

Since releasing his record, it is rumoured that Massari is seeking to leave his record label, Capital Prophet Records, due to financial disputes. Siding with Massari during the split have been other short lived Capital Prophet Records artists, Vico and Deuce-Deuce. Vico was featured on Massari's album, but never released his own album. After the rift, Belly and his manager, Manny Dion, removed Massari, Vico, and Deuce-Deuce from the Myspace pages, and vice-versa. Massari is currently traveling while working on his sophomore album.

It isn’t everyday that Canadian independent urban artists achieve the level of success that Ottawa-based Massari has received in such a short period of time. Massari’s debut album was released and had reached Gold record status within the first six months, making 2005 the year for Canada’s breakthrough R&B recording artist Massari.

Since the debut release, Massari has had his first three singles and videos in the Top 20, two back to back # 1 videos on the MuchMusic Top 30 Countdown, nominations for two 2005 MuchMusic Video Awards (Best Independent Video, MuchVibe Best Rap Video), nominations for two 2005 Canadian Urban Music Awards (Best New Artist, R&B/Soul Recording of the Year), and most recently a 2006 Juno Award nomination in the R&B/Soul Recording of the Year category. Massari performed alongside Coldplay, Michael Buble, Black Eyed Peas and others for the LIVE Juno Broadcast in Halifax, NS on April 2nd, 2006.

The 26-year old Sagittarius, born in Beirut, Lebanon, moved with his family to Montreal at the age of 10 to break out of the unrest within the population at that time. Later, at 13 he moved to Ottawa where he currently resides. The trilingual artist – he speaks English, French and Arabic fluently – cites Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin as musical influences. However, growing up he has been exposed to various styles of music and because of that his biggest influence is legendary Arabic singer George Wassouf.
In 2002, Massari recorded and released “Spitfire” which garnered heavy rotation on Ottawa radio stations. He returned in 2005 with his self-titled debut album release on May 31st, 2005 through MapleNationWide/Universal. For this record, Massari worked closely with his producer Da Heala. The album, with its upbeat club-style tracks, mid-tempo joints and smooth ballads draws influences from Massari’s middle-eastern origins. “Because of my background, my music is heavily influenced with middle-eastern melodies.”, explains Massari.

Massari (pronounced Ma-Sar-ee) - whose Arabic name literally translated means ‘money’ - has taken the industry by surprise in Canada. A national indie phenomenon Massari's self-titled album debuted on the Top 40 SoundScan Chart at #29, and #6 on the R&B chart selling out nationwide in its first couple days of release. The lead off single, “Smile For Me” features former Bad Boy Entertainment recording artist Loon. “It didn’t matter if he was an established artist or not, it was just the quality of the record, the quality of the music that made me want to get involved”, says Loon about his involvement with Massari. The end result was a hit single that spent 24 weeks on the Top 40 chart, peaking at #18 (BDS CHR) in Canada. Canadian award-winning music video director RT! was responsible for making the “Smile For Me” video one of the hottest urban videos by a Canadian artist. The video was immediately added to heavy rotation at MuchMusic and MuchVibe and received two 2005 MuchMusic Video Award nominations for Best Independent Video and MuchVibe Best Rap Video.

His second single “Be Easy”, bettered his first outing and spent close to four months in the Top 10 (peaking at #4) on the Top 40 Chart (BDS CHR). The video, once again directed by music video director RT!, was instantly added to heavy rotation across the board on video outlets and peaked at the coveted #1 position on the MuchMusic Top 30 Countdown. Riding high on the success of “Be Easy” comes the much-anticipated third single “Real Love”. The romantic ballad shows a softer side to Massari with its beautifully innocent and heartfelt lyrics. The single found its way into the Top 20 at Canadian CHR/TOP 40 radio after only four weeks and the video was added into heavy rotation across the board at video outlets. The video made its way to the #1 spot on major video countdowns – MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic and Musique Plus. The video directed by RT!, produced by John Nadalin, brings to life a fabulous story of love, fate and destiny.

Already the biggest selling Canadian R&B artist of 2005, Massari is taking things worldwide in 2006 with a recently inked major record deal with Universal Music in Germany for release of his debut CD in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, along with releases confirmed for over 40 territories around the world including Australia.

The huge success of his debut album has kept Massari busy touring all over the globe. His album has become the #1 fastest selling record in the Middle East. On January 9th 2007 Massari made a guest appearance on Star Academy in Beirut Lebanon. Star Academy is one of the largest television shows that can be viewed by a 100,000,000 people all around the world. This gave Massari’s fans the chance to see him perform live and interact with the contestants of Star Academy. “My fans are the secret behind my success and I never would have come this far if it wasn’t for their love and support” explains Massari.

Forever Massari inc. was launched by Massari himself in order to develop projects that he believes will help people all around the world. He is in the process of building his own charity organization called “Save the Future”. This organization will be geared to helping orphans and children all over the world gain access to clean water, nutritious food, health care, and education. He has also created a division in his company that provides services such as: artist development, music management, clothing lines, and accessories.

With experience comes knowledge and Massari has come a long way since the release of his debut album. The journey has not been an easy one, but his hard work and dedication to his fans has helped him opened a door for the world to see the gifted artist that he is.
