So dramatic is the start of Cry Me a River that one might expect Beyoncé to take center stage on the track. Instead, a James Bond-worthy tremolo guitar chord is Bublé's cue as he takes the standard into '60s Gene Pitney territory. It's quite a thrilling marriage of old and new, which has been the young singer's calling card.

Bublé calmly reins himself in with All of Me, which swings with muted piano and horns and a traditional reading. He begins Georgia On My Mind with a bit of 007 mystery. His smooth, soulful rendition of Van Morrison's Crazy Love is perfect for rolling the car windows down and just driving. Bublé simply taps into the breezy perfection of the song.

Lest anyone get sucked into believing that Bublé is just an old soul, Haven't Met You Yet bursts forth with all the poppy bounce and youthful enthusiasm of Jason Mraz or Colbie Caillat — maybe even Maroon 5. Outstanding inventive arrangements (All I Do Is Dream of You), sheer audacity (Heartache Tonight), weirdness (Bill Vera's At this Moment) and cool collaborations with Naturally 7 (Stardust) and Ron Sexsmith (Whatever It Takes) makes this a record guaranteed to keep listeners on their heels and smiling, too.
