Smith I got to know about Michael W Smith i think either 1997 or 1998, and i've since fallen in love with his music. i see in him a man with a deep passion for God and a hunger to see lives genuinly changed. I think i appreciate that some more reading his biography. i'd like to say "keep up the good work" and i'm looking forward to having him and some others perform here in my home country Nigeria - the likes of Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day, Amy grant, phillips, Craig & Dean. love you all. |

I can't tell exactly what the deep-voiced guy is saying, but I think it's something about the briefness of life - it's all death and shrouds and "Why should the spirit of mortal be proud?" After that, though, the song itself starts with a killer bass line, and it only gets better after that (the crumb of young-Smitty, 80's-influenced cheese late in the song notwithstanding - it's right after the "freedom song" line). This song is great for anyone struggling with temptation - so basically humans in general. The lyrics are uplifting and encouraging while still being awesome. This is one of my favorite early-MWS songs - it shows how well he rocked even early on. |
