| Michel Delpech was born on January 26, 1946 in Courbevoie, France. In 1964, he met composer Roland Vincent & released his first 7", "Anatole". In 1965, he was part of the musical "Copains Clopant" & became known thanks to the song "Chez Laurette". In 1966, he married Chantal Simon & was Jacques Brel's supporting act at Paris' Olympia.
In 1967, Michel has been taken under Johnny Stark's wing & signed to Barclay. His hits have been "Wight Is Wight", "Et Paul Chantait Yesterday" & "Pour Un Flirt". In 1970, Michel left Johnny Stark. Hits continued : "Les Divorcés" & "Que Marianne Etait Jolie" in 1973, "Le Chasseur" in 1974 & "Quand J'Etais Chanteur" in 1975. Michel & Chantal Simon divorced. In 1977, he released "Le Loir-Et-Cher". In 1985, after a long absence, Michel married Geneviève Garnier-Fabre & released his album Loin D'Ici. His audience followed him & a Best Of came out in 1989. After his album Comme Vous in 2004, Michel performed at La Rochelle's Francofolies & at Carhaix's Festival des Vieilles Charrues. On December 4, 2006, he released his duet album Michel Delpech &, covering his hits with other artists, N°1 in France. |
