She said: "I had been listening to the Lissie record, and her song, 'When I'm Alone' is one of my favorite songs out right now," Michelle revealed in her Ustream chat. "I found out that Jim and Julian were responsible for it, so I wanted to work with them. They came to L.A. and we had the awkward first writing date. The first song we wrote together was called 'Spark,' and we were just so excited about it. It was the best writing day possible." She has teased a bit about the LP saying that "the first song [she, Julian Emrey, and Jim Irvine] wrote together is,called 'Spark.'" She's getting ready to get down to making this album too—she says she has "11 or 12 songs ready to go right now and is going to go in studio in January." She's aiming for a release date of summer 2011. Though it's supposedly going to be of the "pop" genre, Michelle Branch "hates putting labels on it because a good song is a good song." That's a smart way to look at music. Labels can cause people to pass judgment before even taking the time to listen to something, especially if they don't like "pop." |
