Machine 15 Review

SWEDISH punk-pop band, Millencolin return with their seventh album Machine 15.
With their original take on American pop-punk, in the same vein as Green Day and Blink 182, the album is packed with strumming chords and simple tunes but also demonstrates the evolved sound of Millencolin.
They have created a melodic, infectious sound infused with harmonised vocals and polished production with strings. With the help of producer Lou Giordano (who has previously worked with them in 2003 and with various American ‘emo’ bands such as The Ataris) this sound has enhanced the standard punk-rock songs.
With the use of an orchestra, Millencolin create an epic, accomplished sound. The sweeping sound works effectively on songs such as Done is Done, Saved By Hell and Ducks and Drakes.
Simplistic
Vocalist /bassist Nikola Sarcevic has a grunge-tinge to his melodic vocals and the lyrics are very simplistic but very catchy.
Mostly the tracks on Machine 15 are upbeat anthems, very simple songs that you could bounce around to.
For example, the comedic single Detox (which addresses not an addition to drink /drugs but an addiction to music) and Come On are energetic and tuneful but sound like any other generic pop-punk songs you could find on many records.
This new sound could elevate Millencolin to commercial success and they could easily share the stage and surpass the millions of pop-punk bands that all sound the same.
