AboutMiMi Soya are a pop-rock Brighton-based quartet, who are ready to take on the world with their huge pop anthems, sunny, addictive melodies and stirring guitar riffs.
Formed in the British summer of 2006, MiMi Soya began when three old school friends from Horley were signed to LAB Records (The Auteur, Lost on Campus), and it was all up from there. They found their front woman Jorja, who made a big impression and just four days after she passed her audition, she joined the band on a ten-date UK tour with other LAB acts.
The four-strong band have supported some huge names in their career so far, including Set Your Goals, Go:Audio, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Newton Faulkner and Cobra Starship.
Highlights also include when they played at Wembley Stadium for a crowd of 30,000 last August for the Nike Human Race, following acts such as Moby and Pendulum. They have also recently completed a UK sell-out tour with Cobra Starship, Sing it Loud and Cash Cash, which took place in May 2009.
The band's recently released EP "Four Penny Knee Trembler" sold a whopping 5,000 copies in the last year, which included their anthemic track, "Deathwish" and the more rocky "Don't Forget to Breathe", which became available for purchase on iTunes.
With a fresh start to the year they have been locked away with Romesh Dodangoda (Kids In Glass Houses, Funeral For A Friend) at Longwave Studios honing some huge pop anthems to compliment their sunny, addictive melodies and stirring guitar riffs. It's a bit of a rebirth as guitarist Chris explains;
"Expect from us a brand new, stronger sound with a theme of recovery running through its veins. It's a phoenix-like rebirth! It's full of feel-good tracks with humorous, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and we've had an awesome time putting it together! It's been an incredible year for us, with so much going on. Romesh has been making our music rock harder than ever before!"
