Moby no big fish when it comes to busking

Techno star Moby took to the streets of west London for an impromptu busking set - but made just £6.

Despite selling out huge arenas worldwide, the artist was unable to convince passers-by in Sloane Square to put their hands in their pockets for the 40-minute gig.

Moby, whose hit album Play sold nine million copies, entertained commuters last night with a set of his best-known songs including Honey and Natural Blues.

The musician, whose gig with singer Joy Malcolm was being filmed for the BBC's Culture Show, said he was not upset by the apparent lack of generosity.

He said: "At the most I was given maybe £5 or £6, but that's fine because I was obviously not doing it for the money... When I was at university I used to busk all the time to make money to buy liquor."

The artist had responded to an email from the show's producers two weeks ago asking him if he would busk for them next time he was in London.
