AboutMuriel Moreno (real name Muriel Denise Francine Laporte) is a French composer & singer, born on January 24, 1963 in Chinon, France. In 1982, while studying Art History in Rennes, she met composer Daniel Chenevez & became the singer of the trio L'Ombre Jaune, with Daniel Chenevez (keyboards) & José Tamarin (guitar). Their first concert at the Paradise has been followed by Rennes' Transmusicales. At the same time, Muriel was a student & a DJ in bars.

From Niagara to...
L'Ombre Jaune, renamed Niagara (after Henry Hathaway's film), went to studios, signed to Polydor/PolyGram & their first single "Tchiki Boum" came out in September 1985. José Tamarin left the band & the second single "L'Amour À La Plage" came out in May 1986. With "Je Dois M'En Aller", Muriel became a sexy woman à la Barbarella. Niagara's first album Encore Un Dernier Baiser came out in November 1986 & they went on tour in France. "Quand La Ville Dort" has been a hit in 1987.

Niagara's second album Quel Enfer ! came out on April 18, 1988. Its style moved to rock, Muriel became red-haired & wore hats. The 4 singles have been "Assez !", "Soleil D'Hiver", "Flammes De L'Enfer" & "Baby Louis". Niagara went on tour again in 1989, going to Morocco, Tunisia, Canada & the United States (New York & Chicago).

Niagara's third album Religion came out on April 17, 1990, confirming the band's rock style, with guitars & Muriel's aggressive voice. The 4 singles "J'Ai Vu", "Pendant Que Les Champs Brûlent", "Psychotrope" & "La Vie Est Peut-Être Belle" led to the "Religion Tour" in 1991, a real success. Niagara has also been the first French band supported by MTV Europe, that always liked their videos. Muriel started to feel tired, because of albums, promotion & tours every 2 years.

Niagara's final album La Vérité came out on October 13, 1992. It included the melodic "La Fin Des Étoiles", the 70's ]"Un Million D'Années" & the bluesy "Le Minotaure". During a concert in Sweden, Muriel lost her voice ! All the European dates have been cancelled. Niagara went back on tour in Montréal & in Southern France. Nobody knew it was Niagara's last tour. Muriel, tired & depressed, decided to stop. The end ! Each of Niagara's album has been a musical photography. With 4 albums & 15 singles, Niagara sold 3 million copies !

...A solo career
In 1994, Muriel put her home studio in her house, in Paris XI. She did everything herself : lyrics, music, programming & production. On May 10, 1996, her first album Toute Seule came out & included 2 singles, "Près Du Lac Vert" & "Tout Va Bien Si J'Évite D'Y Penser" (she directed her first video). Muriel also composed soundtracks : "Thérapie Russe" in 1997 & "Locked In The Syndrom" in 1998. She studied jazz & learnt to play drums.

The following has been strange... The star turned to electro/minimal. She wanted to do an instrumental album, with only programming. Required Elements came out in March 2000 & the single "You Can't Get Rid Of It" has been in independent charts in England. The following year, Muriel recorded another album, composed by herself again. Surviving The Day came out in March 2001. She shyly went back to singing. Since 2001, Muriel has been a DJ everywhere in the world.
